Brush Mats are beds compiled of brush from trees in an attempt to collect silt. Brush mats are placed on the banks of streams so that as the silt is collected it increases the size of the bank, narrowing the stream. The narrow streams increases the flow rate and depth of the water, while also bringing down the temperature of the stream.
